Ambassador Ann Wagner joins Sen. Jim Talent as Foundation Co-Chair

For immediate release:

St. Louis, MO.— Sen. Jim Talent today announced that Ambassador Ann Wagner will join him as Honorary Co-Chair of the American Freedom and Enterprise Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted to promoting solutions to reestablish the consensus for free markets as the best means to produce jobs, economic growth, prosperity and wealth.

“Today’s economy is global and it takes a broad vision to find solutions to our current economic challenges,” Talent said. “Ambassador Wagner’s time in Luxembourg gave her a front row seat to witness European-style socialism in action.  Her foreign service and private sector experience will be a tremendous asset to the Foundation as we promote free market principles and the appropriate role of government in the economy. I am honored that she will be joining our team.”

Ann Wagner served as the 19th U.S. Ambassador to Luxembourg four years until July, 2009.  Previously, Ann Wagner was Co-Chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC) for two terms and also held the position of Chair of the Missouri Republican Party for more than six years.  In the private sector, she held management positions at Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, Missouri, and Ralston Purina in St. Louis, Missouri. She is presently serving on the boards of St. Louis Children’s Hospital, Forest Park Forever, and the Washington University in St. Louis International Scholars Academy.

“When Jim Talent asked me to join him as Honorary Co-Chair of the American Freedom and Enterprise Foundation, I knew I had to answer this new call and continue to stand up for American freedom and the American spirit,” Wagner said.  “I too am shocked by the blatant attack on the American spirit and free enterprise by liberal leaders in Washington.  I believe that if we are not willing to stand up and fight for freedom, then we are doomed to lose it.  I look forward to working with Jim Talent to promote policies rooted in free market principles.”

Ambassador Wagner will be publishing articles and hosting events on behalf of the Foundation.  Her first op-ed is available at The Missouri Record: http://www.missourirecord.com/news/index.asp?article=10100

The American Freedom and Enterprise Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Missouri that is devoted to promoting solutions to reestablish the consensus for free markets as the best means to produce jobs, economic growth, prosperity and wealth.  It serves as a unique clearing house for ideas and discussion based on free market principles while promoting common sense solutions to public policy.

With Ambassador Ann Wagner, U.S. Senator Jim Talent serves as Honorary Co-Chairman for the American Freedom and Enterprise Foundation. Senator Talent has served 20 years in public office including the U.S. Senate (2002-2007), the U.S. House of Representatives (1993-2001), where he served two terms as the Chairman of the House Committee on Small Business and the Missouri House of Representatives (1985-1993), where he served two terms as the House Minority Leader.
