Senator Talent and Dr. Moffit,
The health care bill poses many changes in the way medicine is both funded and practiced. However, less is said about the impact it will have on the pharmaceutical industry. Will the bill significantly change medical research in the United States? As an American with a rare autoimmune disease I am concerned about the development and availability of new drugs, particularly those for people with less common diseases.
Hello, I’m currently a student at Saint Louis College of Pharmacy. As a pharmacy student, it seems as if this health care reform bill is placing a lot of extra strain and responsibility on both doctors and hospitals. My question with regards to this is “wouldn’t the medical community and the nation be better served if we gave more responsibilities to pharmacist with regard to being able to treat a limited range of individuals
I am so sorry, I have a committment at that time that day.
thank you .
Recent statements from President Obama and Congressional leadership have indicated that they should proceed with a health care bill that the American public can support. It seems that more than a few in the majority have finally realized that increasing the budget deficit and raising taxes is not the way to go. What types of reform would you propose making to the current health care system to provide meaningful benefits to consumers today without unfairly burdening the generations of tomorrow?
It seems that Democrats no longer have a filibuster proof majority in the Senate when it comes to the health care reform package it recently passed. In your opinion, will Congress now proceed with a pared down version of the bill or have to start from scratch?
Thank you for these questions in advance of the online town hall.
Why isn’t there more talk about letting individuals and companies go outside of their state to get insurance. This would increase competition and decrease prices. And what about tort reform? Why aren’t these types of issues being worked on. We have excellent health care. So we don’t need “health care” reform we need to reform some of the systems in place around it. I heard Steve Forbes talk last summer and he has some excellent ideas. Do you think now that they don’t have the majority vote some of these issues might be discussed again?
What in the health care bill would help control costs? The current bill seems to excite spending. Is there anything in the bill that would encourage, reward or incentivize health and cost reductions?
And a related question:
Supporters of health care reform argue that the current bill will reduce the deficit, but they’ve used some slick accounting tricks to show savings. What is real cost of the current health care reform bill?
I’m supportive of health care reform in theory, but I’m extremely concerned with what Washington has proposed. Aren’t there better ways to bring coverage to the uninsured that doesn’t undermine the insurance coverage most American’s enjoy. What is the one most effective thing the Congress could do?
C’mon people. We owe these guys a lot. If it wasn’t for them winning lawsuits and getting a warning sticker put on lawn mowers, I wouldn’t know not to insert my hands into the spinning blades.
I’ve been trying to connect to the townhall not able to get in
