Government intervention in health care is the problem not the solution; free market solutions already exist.
St. Louis, MO.— With the U.S. House of Representatives voting for a major overhaul of the U.S. health care industry, St. Louis physician Dr. Charles Willey will release the first in a series of pieces for the American Freedom and Enterprise Foundation to comment on national health care policy. “Private Sector Health Care Innovations can Prevent Medicaid for All: Government in health care is the problem not the solution.”
Dr. Willey will author the five part series for the American Freedom and Enterprise Foundation. In each piece, he will identify a challenge and illustrate the free market solution that will strengthen our nation’s health care industry. Sen. Talent serves as Honorary Chairman of American Freedom and Enterprise Foundation.
“Dr. Willey is on the front line of the health care industry in this country. He knows how the government’s policies often have the perverse result of increasing spending while actually hurting patient care,” Sen. Talent said. “This series will facilitate a dialogue about what will and won’t fix the health system; in particular, Doctor Willey will analyze the effect of the proposed health care legislation on the quality of actual care for actual patients. It’s a liberating series that we hope everyone will read as they consider what is happening in Washington – free market solutions exist and should be considered.”
The five part series authored by Dr. Willey will five specific solutions to health care challenges that are rooted in the free market:
Part I – Quality, Service and Efficiency Innovation
Part II – Lawsuit Abuse Innovation
Part III – Reimbursement Innovation
Part IV – Insurance Risk Pool Innovation
Part V - Benefit Design Innovation
“We already have more than enough money in American healthcare. It is ludicrous to contend that health care costs too much, and then propose to spend an additional $1.5 trillion to ‘reform’ it. The issue is not how much we are paying: it is what we are paying for,” Dr. Willey said. “Over the next few weeks, I look forward to sharing experiences with innovative medical/ finance reform models, and to a lively dialogue on this important topic.”
The series will be featured on the American Freedom and Enterprise Foundation website: FreedomSolutions.org and other social networking sites.

Great post, great topic, I am always amazed by this.
Health reform is doa, and tonight more people will lose access to health care.
Health reform has been reduced to a dream, like the electric car, or baseball without steriods. It is doubtful we will see any reform in the next few years, and yet health care costs will continue to make access to health insurance more exclusive to the rich.
Great post, and in my opinion health reform is dying faster then our economy.
Health insurance is only available now to the rich, thanks Republicans.
