(St. Louis, Mo.) With the free market under attack in Washington, U.S. Senator Jim Talent today launched the American Freedom and Enterprise Foundation, a new organization devoted to promoting solutions to reestablish the consensus for free markets as the best means to produce jobs, economic growth, prosperity and wealth.
”Until recently, there was a consensus in Washington that government must allow Americans the resources and freedom to generate economic growth. That consensus is now under attack in Washington,” said Honorary Chairman Talent. “The American Freedom and Enterprise Foundation will serve as a resource to all Americans and public officials looking for sound solutions and information on public policy. We will use numbers that we believe are unimpeachable to spotlight problems, build our case and propose free market solutions that will have their roots in the philosophy of both Parties.”
The American Freedom and Enterprise Foundation will serve as a unique clearing house for ideas and discussion based on free market principles while promoting common sense solutions to public policy. Among the issues the Foundation will spolight are jobs and the economy; federal spending and the debt; health care; cap and trade; and defense spending. The Foundation will be led by an outstanding board of experienced leaders from all corners of Missouri. To communicate directly with the public the American Freedom and Enterprise Foundation will leverage new media to provide unfettered information to the public through our Internet site at http://www.FreedomSolutions.org
U.S. Senator Jim Talent will serve as Honorary Chairman for the American Freedom and Enterprise Foundation. Senator Talent has served 20 years in public office including the U.S. Senate (2002-2007), the U.S. House of Representatives (1993-2001), where he served two terms as the Chairman of the House Committee on Small Business and the Missouri House of Representatives (1985-1993), where he served two terms as the House Minority Leader.
Currently, Senator Talent serves as a Distinguished Fellow at the Heritage Foundation where he specializes in military readiness issues and welfare reform. He is also the Vice Chairman of the bipartisan Commission for the Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation and Terrorism. He is the co-author of The World At Risk: The Report of the Commission on the Prevention of WMD Proliferation and Terrorism.

Thank You for all your doing. I am on board, and support ya’ll 100%…..Tim Harper
Mr. Talent,
I think this is great idea. However, as you say, consensus is the key. If you want your effort to be successful, the politics need to left out of it, unless this is just another way to court Republicans. I am fiercely Independent, due to my dissatisfaction with the way both parties are dealing with issues. I do lean more conservatively. But I want proposals and answers, not divisive retoric, to the problems that face our country. I’m extremely concerned about our budget deficit, but also concerned about healthcare. While my family is pleased with our coverage, I think we need to find a way to cover all Americans fairly. I have family that SERVE in the military and want them to be supported by the same government that sends them out to danger continuously.
I pray that you truly want to built bridges and come up with plans that are realistic and workable. I look forward to following your endeavor.

Senator Talent has come forward as an advocate for the people, and that is a magnificent gesture. However, serving as Honorary Chairperson of an organization with no leverage within the framework of our government does not fill the void created by the vacancy of LEADERSHIP. Bring us true leaders we can count on to serve the country, not themselves.
I just responded yesterday to a plea for money from the RNC, a response that I would be so pleased to again be counted as a contributor to the cause … if there were any leadership within that group. There does not appear to ba a true leader within the party, and I’m left to wonder how we expect to rid the country of the current liberal and social movement.
Yes, we can all see what’s wrong, we all know that JOBS is the key, and that the leftist opposition to capitalism is an immovable wall to economic benefit; we know that a border which leaks like a sieve is not conducive to economic or even social improvement; that a beauracracy embodied in fraud and deceit and outright dishonesty could never manage effefctively the Social Security system, the Postal Service, Medicare and Medicaid, let alone the auto industry, the healthcare industry, nor anything else the power-hungry traitors to the country invade; that the War on Poverty, the War on Drugs, the War on Terror, all are failures because of special interests and greed and dishonor. Now, other than pointing out the obvious, what comes next?
For this country to reach back and grab what all our veterans and true public servants, and our founding fathers have fought for (as a veteran of the USMC during the Korean conflict I do have a right to speak of such) it is going to take LEADERSHIP, and we can’t find those leaders. What happened to those who would lead with honor and dignity? I personally believe Senator John McCain, for instance, is an American hero, and I would be honored to spend one moment in his presence, but there was not any chance that this hero was going to win over the “hope and change” (theoretical) savior, and there were no true leaders who stepped forward. Take, for instance, Alan Simpson of Wyoming who served his country and then left the system. He made sense, we would follow him and believe in him, but he’s not serving presently. There are others out there, but we don’t need career politicians or such as we have now, anyone who would talk the great game and then sell the country down the river, apologizing for who this country is and what it has been.
The real question is: can Senator Talent cause true LEADERS to come forward and represent the people? If not, then this is just another organization to contend with. Bring forth leaders who earn respect and we’ll be there to support them. I speak for many people I have personally communicated with who share the view that this country needs LEADERS, not politicians.
**PLEASE FORWARD TO THE SENATOR **
Hey Jim,
AWESOME brother ! I’m so happy to read you are back “IN THE MIX” !
I will be following your progress at the new foundation and look forward with anticipation of your progress.
Connie and I are preparing for retirement with my recent layoff last Nov. She will retire this coming May from teaching.
I miss our times flying together. If you can get a word edgewise in the Blunt Campaign please let me know a contact person with phone so I can offer them my services. I’d LOVE to fly for MATT on his run for the US Senate! I’m available and interested. I have a plane that possibly could be used also. I know that the Governor’s family does have some aviation background too.
Know that you are in our prayers too.
FYI – Connie and I were in your neighborhood recently looking at some of the townhouses close to the pool
Your brother & sister in Christ,
Mike & Connie Page
Jim, I’m glad that you launched this campaign. Since my Congressional campaign, I have been looking for something to get involved with and this is just the thing I need. Let me know how I can help.
Senator Talent,
I am so glad that you have come forward to help the American people and our country during these trying times. I am unemployed so I cannot offer a donation but would be happy to help you any way that I could. I have helped in years past on your campaigns and am so glad you are back.

Sennator Talent:
I ask your help with the only legislation that is “shovel ready” to get our economy moving again. That legislation is HR 25 and S 296 which has been in DC since 1999. That Bill does away with the IRS and IRS TAX CODE now 70,320 pages. The TAX CODE keeps $11 to $15 trillion dollars off shore to a void being taxed. The CODE is a trillion dollar drain on America’s economy. The CODE allows politicians to do SOCIAL ENGINEERING and REWARD THEIR FRIENDS AND PUNISH THEIR ENEMIES. Representative Charlie Rangels words.
HELP America do away with this terrible TAX CODE know over 100 years old. Go to fairtax.org and MOFairTax.org and FairTaxKC.org to find out what is going on in your state.
Missouri House of Representatives is the first elective body to pass a Fair Tax bill. This happened this year by a vote 90 to 65. The Bill was heard in The Missouri Senate Ways and Means Committee shortly before the session ended on May 15th , but those same elected officials will be back in Jefferson City in January for the 2010 session. The Bill will be re-introduced and it will pass the House and it is thought that is will then pass the Senate. Passage will create, not legislation that the governor can sign or veto, a referendum that places on the ballot in November 2010 an amendment to The Missouri Constitution to do away with Missouri’s State Income Tax and go to a State Fair Tax.
Thank for you help,
Robert Holliger – FairTax District Director, Missouri 5th US Congression District

Great info, thank you for making this available on your blog.
Wonderful!
I was reading something else about this on another blog. Interesting. Your position on it is diametrically contradicted to what I read earlier. I am still contemplating over the opposite points of view, but I’m tipped heavily toward yours. And no matter, that’s what is so great about modernized democracy and the marketplace of thoughts on-line.
Hi,just identified your Blog when i google something and wonder what web hosting do you use for your web site, the speed is more faster than my blog, i really need it.will back to check it out, many thanks!
